CBI -Someshwar Srivastava The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is the foremost investigating police agency of the country. Along with being the prime agency of the Central Government, the CBI is also responsible for an extensive variety of criminal and national security matters. It functions under the superintendence of the Ministry of Personnel, the Deptt. of Personnel, Pension & Public Grievances, Government of India - which comes under the prime minister’s office. The CBI was established on April 1, 1963, and extracts its power from the Special Police Force (SPE). Later on, after the reformer change it was brought under the Home Ministry of Government of India.
